After the escapade I had earlier this week with my first Image Wear pattern (the same company as My Image) you'd think I'd be turned off from their patterns. Absolutely not! You can read in that entry why I decided I love them. The newest magazine has lots of nice warmer weather patterns so I looked back to a winter issue since it's still dreary old February and I need long sleeved tops. I set forth and had to test the waters and try a very basic pattern from their magazine. I present the Cowl Neck top from the Winter 2011/12 My Image Magazine. It's pattern M1152.
I was meticulous with pre-measuring the pattern before tracing and cutting. There was appropriate ease already added in this design unlike the dress I made. I cut a 40 then graded to a 42 in the waist and the to a 44 in the hip. I used and extremely stretchy material so I went down one size then recommended by the size chart. It worked out just right! I used a lovely purple modal spandex rayon. The gray weather here didn't allow the color to really show... it has a more red undertone like fuscia.
This was so fast to sew up... about and hour and a half including cutting the fabric. There are only four pattern pieces. The directions are terse but complete. I could have sewn this without them but I intentionally made this easy top so I could see how the directions worked out for another pattern from this company. I like where the neckline hits, not too low but not so high. I left the sleeve and bottom hems raw. A good transitional top. Okay, I seriously am 110% sold on My Image patterns now.
What a great basic- it fits so well and I love the color and the draped neck.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!! I wore it yesterday and want to wear it again today... I think it's a success :)
DeleteLove the color and the great fit!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's one of my new favorite patterns.
DeleteTerrific looking top! Very nice color and style on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And it's so comfy.
DeleteOooh, I really like this one. The drape neck seems to be a slightly different shape (more rounded) than those I've seen on other patterns.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail. It's a definite winner for me. I want to make a couple more in different colors and prints.
Deletesimply wonderful!
